I finally worked my way up to my more recent work, yay! This is one of my favs. I was inspired to work on it, I suppose. A LOT of people on DA asked me if it was a nine tails. No, it's not. It's only got seven tails, for one. It does, however, share a common root--the kitsune. In some versions, the kitsunes are all nine-tailed and friendly guys. In some, they are nasty tempered and awful, starting out with one tail and growing them one by one, until they reach nine, upon which they become enlightened and friendly.
Anyway, this one only has seven, and is a force to be reckoned with!
Prints avaliable! Note me if interested. :3

THis is simply amazing. THis kitsune looks quite formidible, frightening even, as it makes its way, then spots the viewr.. It's stark, almost glowing pure white eyes give it an unearthly, almost borderline demonic look matched well by it's snarl. The kitsune-bi, the foxfire that appears here and there around it also convey further it's unearthly nature, though it gives it a more celestial feeling. That sort of makes it a set of contradictions, that tie-in to a beautiful, dangerious being.
From what I hear the kitsune's tails split until he has nine at which point the earthly world can no longer support it's powerful presence and he moves on to a supernatural world. But that's how I heard the legend, no doubt there's variations.
The art looks good though, it has a lot of depth, I like it a lot!

LMAO I knew it was you but this confirms it. I saw this exact picture on the DA and I was like this artist's style reminds of my favourite seven tales picture on Devian Art. Could be the sam artist.

*charmed* I can't help loving the kitsune kind, and with this you have just made my love for them eternal. *bows* Gorgeous, excellent, just lovely...
(on a side note, folklore about kitsunes also includes some versions that they only have one tail for their whole lives and just like to work hard and live alone, cooking oden. Another version tells that there are different kinds of kitsunes, for one a pipe fox spirit that usually manifests the shape of a limbless flying snakeish fox, and occasionally transforms into a nine tailed fox. Yet another one would say that a kitsune grows a tail one per century lived, or one per good deed to humanity done, and does not nescessarily have an evil or mischievous nature. Some versions again tell that all kitsune are evil and just want to charm males by taking the form of gorgeous young women, taking them to bed and devouring their soul by possessing them.)
