As the 'sweeps month' of May winds down, so does my collection of 'photo-ops'.
This latest picture, taken back in the early 1990s at a Creation (comic book) convention in New York City, features yours truly and cartoonist/artist Phil Yeh of California. Yeh is best-known for his characters "Frank the Unicorn", "Theo the Dinosaur", "Patrick Rabbit", and "The Winged Tiger" - who help promote a variety of good values, such as 'literacy', 'healthy eating habits', 'saving the environment', etc.
Yeh and some of his friends founded Cartoonists Across America, which not only continues to promote these good values, but connects the world through creative cartooning (as he has met a variety of equally talented artists worldwide). If you'd like to visit the CAA website, and make a connection yourself, go to http://www.ideaship.com/
Like myself, Phil has also met his share of big-named celebrities (and had his picture taken with some of them), including actor Edward James Olmos and (the late) Steve Allen. You can see some of those photos in the aforementioned CAA site.
As for the two of us, we had reunited on three other occasions: once in the Fall of 1993 at a comic book convention in Philadelphia (where he painted a huge mural on both sides of a giant trucking van, and invited other comic book artists [e.g. Stan "Usagi Yojimbo" Sakai] to participate), once in the mid-1990s at the Aventura Shopping Mall in Miami-Dade County, FL (where my late mother and I got to draw on another one of his murals), and once in the late 1990s at the "Miami Book Fair" (where I not only helped him out with yet another one of his murals, I actually got to wear a 'fursuit' - for the very first time - of his character "The Winged Tiger"! I'll describe THAT experience in a future 'live journal').
I hope to have the time (and inclination) to post one more picture before May 31st. Meanwhile, if you'd missed any of my previous 'photo-ops' with other personalities, simply click Jed in the 'Keywords' section below.
