Very neat. I usually do toned grey shading in a multiply layer over the colors but never thought of just gradient mapping the shading itself :0

I tend to find that keeping it grey scale and just using multiply makes it look super dirty honestly - At least for me. This way tends to make a "richer" looking result ^^
It might look super complex, but it honestly only takes about 2 minutes ^^

Yea, this is pretty cool...I remember trying it before; pretty neat. I always just worry about customers complaining about accurate color, though. It always kind of scares me someone will be out there going, THAT'S 1 NUMBER OFF.

It shouldn't affect the colour of the character palette underneath it if you adjust it as needed :o

You can do all of those steps in PS. :O / PS has all of the functions listed here that SAI has :O
Is there another/different reason you switch back and forth?
(I have used gradient-mapping too but my shading is not good enough currently. ^^o)

I just prefer SAI's brushes and my specific brushes that I have over there :)
Also, I'm limited to PS CS2, which is OLLLLLD and very restrictive. and I can't create the same quality of art is photoshop as I can in SAI. Overall I just prefer SAI's UI and set up I think ^^
My PS is *very* clunky unfortunately.
Maybe when I can afford an up to date version of PS I'll move over to it fully :)

Same reason why I don't use sai--I've used PS for over 10 years x'D so all my brushes/settings are in PS. ;)
