A little of both, from what I've seen. The similarity to worms, the scaliness, just the fact that it's naked...The tail always seems to be the thing that puts people off about rats, if they had bushy tails they'd look like squirrels and people love those. I used to work at a petstore and I lost track of how many "eeew, the tail" comments I heard from customers. I'd just roll my eyes. lol
