Anatomy fail. Foreshortening fail. Creepy fail. Lots o' fail. :-/
But anyway, this was a quick sketch. I listened to Horses in the Sky last night, and the emo-ness of it summoned Spookhook onto my page. Also, i talked to an old friend recently who i knew well during the time when i created him, so i though i ought to draw him again.
I messed around with it in PS, to try and jazz it up. I think i kind of like the treatment, actually. Especially that green eye. <3
Guh. I made him have pony legs. Sorry, Spook. :-/ I still can't make scary horse faces. Well, except for that one... the last time i drew him, i think. But hmmm. Maybe horses just aren't scary, and that's that.
This is not very dynamic either. Oh well. The head looks good, by itself...

The hole in the side reminds me of one I saw that was surgically placed in a cow to examine her stomach action. For scientific reasons, naturally. I think the guise of laboratory curiosity is in fact an erstwhile excuse to do things to advanced beings because we're all kids at heart who still enjoy pulling the wings of flies. A white lab coat just makes it acceptable.

Its called a rumen cannulation. It has loads of benefits for nutritional studies of ruminants with amongst other things the benefit of having almost completely no impact at all on the life of the animal.
Love the picture. The eye definitely adds an element of evil to it.
When I first looked at it I wondered if they were exhaust ports and then you said they were so that clears that up lol.

and i agree with Balitiger's comment, he has a real sense of, deep lonelyness about him..

That's a rather scary face to me O.O
Poor guy..he's neat but sad :(
and my uncle had a MEAN paso fino filly but his gelding was as sweet as a puppy so yeah..its hard to think of horses as scary unless you think about what something with that much power and a bad attitude can do to you.

i dunno, looks pretty freaky to me,
and most of the scary hosre shit ive seen involves rotting, skulls, or fabio hair, total copouts
maybe try an extreeme perspectice from around the front hooves towards the face?
oooh or have it curved slightly like its turning and do a similar perspective from the back hoof
