CALESTINE PRINCESS Poster
Conveniently, this was for class as well. We are doing a portfolio for Editor's Day and we had to sort of give a "brand statement" that identifies what our subject matter and stories focus on. I emphasized anthropomorphics, aliens in particular, with a regular theme of culture/sociology and religion/spirituality throughout my stories. I was originally going to do a cover that had all my characters but it didn't feel right. Then I looked back at this piece and I felt it strongly conveyed what my brand is in a nutshell. So I chose it to finish up!
Did a lot of this in stream so thank you everyone for coming in to watch me and give feedback <3
To say I'm insanely pleased with this would be an understatement. I think this may be my best piece I've done in a very long time. So I'm very proud the subject is Calestine Princess, since this story is the founder of much of what I do today.
For miscellaneous info:
• The characters are: Elpay the Lanian, Nelthilta the Ambivian, Garin the Lanive/Ambivian hybrid.
• Nelthilta is in her disguised form where she dyes all of her fur and cuts her hair. She's this way through 80% of the novel.
• Garin is maybe about 3 or 4 here?
• Elpay may be huge and scary but he's actually extremely gentle and kind of a big weenie.
• For those unfamiliar, Lanians may look feral but they are absolutely sapient/sentient. They are highly intelligent, can feel and express emotions, and can talk, albeit through a form of Telepathic Speaking. Pretty much, they are no different than people, their bodies are just quadrupedal.
• Elpay's main role in the novel is a protector alongside his brother Dareh, though Dareh focuses more on solving the other issues they have at the time. Despite being a huge wimp, he knows how to keep Nelthilta and Garin safe and does turn to violence when necessary. He cares deeply about Nelthilta to something akin to romantic love, though his species does not have the same definition of love as we know it. I've joked on an off in the past about Nelthilta being in love with a giant dinosaur and that it was too weird to be legit but, well. That's pretty much accurate. For more information on him there's some bits here: This Is Not My Home
• I still haven't revamped the plot hole on how Nelthilta has Garin since I changed some things (a-la getting rid of magic in my universes, whoops.)
• The orbs on Elpay and Garin would regularly glow but I elected to avoid it on this piece to not tamper with the effects too much.
Tools: Mechanical pencil for lines, Clip Studio Paint for coloring, Photoshop for text.

I love the pose and how you did the grass. it looks dry, looks nice!
oh, in the description, I think the link you included in this part ' For more information on him there's some bits here: This Is Not My Home' got broken or something. Maybe you copied the text from dA and in this case the link does not work. I do that sometimes.

I've been meaning to comment about this, but I kept forgetting, this time now that I remembered it, I would like to tell you that this is one of my favourite covers from you.
The shot and colours… for some strange reason it just gives me a Studio Ghibli vibe, even though the green isn't as bright as most Studio Ghibli shots. But there's something about it that just gives off that vibe I love. So if I were to compare it to anything, that would be it. ^.=.^
