Since I am incapable of getting a good critique anywhere, I'm basically demanding that if you listen to this, you give me a critique. This may be what goes on Contravance, once it's finished. This right here is the raw, unedited version. This is basically what MuDvAyNe did with the video for Dull Boy. Post the unedited version of the video and let the people go crazy. The only difference is that I'm not posting this for other people to master and produce and all that.
So, PLEASE. CRITIQUE THIS TO YOUR HEARTS CONTENT!

I like the core rhythm section, but I find the transition from the guitar to the synth a little awkward. Maybe slow down and/or fade out before the synth section starts (or if you fade out, start the synth section as you do OR FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS GEEZ).

i concur with mammagamma. but i have to say, the begginning riffness made me squee ^_^
and the part where it gets quiet and has that sorta..... i dunno what those are.... windchimey things? ohmuhfuggingawd its awesome..... and you should grow a real drummer out of one of those things where you put em in water and they grow.

It calls to mind an image of a stormy night, lone warrior with a chainsaw taking on an army of an undead. The town's been overrun and he may very well be the last human left. He charges into the hoardes of zombies and shouts "bring it on!"...
*tilts head and makes picture frame with fingers* yes! That's the scene I feel from this... but I don't get video game feel, nor do I get horror movie... Oddly enough I get the feeling of action movie from this song.
In particular I like where the guitar begins after the synth. Oh, something at the beginning and ending really bothers me, it's this thing where it sounds a tad like radio static. But I might be the only one who notices that.

That static you hear is actually from my distortion pedal making a small sound much more prominant than it should be. I recorded this with 36 separate guitar tracks, so there was some static from the chord jiggling in the guitar that carried over the rest of the music. Although, I think the one at the beginning was just me hitting the strings a bit too early. lol :D
That's an interesting picture you get from this. I'll have to take that into consideration when writing the lyrics! :D I'm glad you don't get a video game-y feel. For some reason a lot of people get a video game vibe from my music and it really irks me. Possibly because my only friends are gamers. lol

That's the way I am with music. I can take any part of every day life and relate it to some song that I've heard. It doesn't even have to be a recent song that I've listened to, either, it can be something I haven't heard for years. My sister says that she can't have a serious conversation with me anymore because I do that to her all the time. lol
I'm not a gamer. My boyfriend and roommates all swear up and down that I am a gamer, but I refuse to believe that. I have a DS and a PSP and and Xbox Live account and that's it. I play the Sims as well, but that's rare.

Lol Thanks! I actually ended up having to take it off the album, though. There were a lot of issues with it; I was re-doing the drums and for some reason all of the guitars got pitch shifted at some point. I spent about six hours trying to fix it, but there was no saving it. The only other copy of it I had was a flat track of all the guitars/fx/drums in one, and since I was re-doing the drums, I couldn't use it. I may revamp the song and use it on the next album, though. :)
