Interesting take on "human purebred shows"

Some of the deformities we normalise in canines are considered tragic and shocking in humans. When people point to something like a show winning pug and say its a 'lovely example' or 'so beautiful', this is the kind of thing I see in my head: praising of deformity as somehow special, harmless, or acceptable to intentionally breed for.
I saw a terrible pug just because I drew this, and someone commented 'lovely head'. And I just thought..............in what world is that a lovely head for a canine? And would you think a human with a skull deformity had a 'lovely head' that should be passed onto his kids?!

The dog world is madness. I keep doodling shit to this effect but this is the only one I bothered to finish, lol.

some time ago I saw a burly fat man slowly walking down the street. you could hear heavily blocked breathing from paces away. coming nearer I realized it was his poor pug trying to gasp for air, staggering along...
I wanted to grab a shovel, decease both, and bury them on the spot. but all I did was shake my head... poor dog.

yep, experienced the same here, dogs you can hear coming before you even see them.
Give me dogs with noses any day. I need a dog who can run, jump, swim and climb without dropping dead of exhaustion after 3 minutes.

I'm sure you have seen the latest "ugliest dog alive" contest results (an abomination by itself; people, really?)? aside that most seem to be inbred disfigured chinese crested mixes the current one has a blind eye bulging out so far there must be a tumor behind it. it hurts me to see it; does the owner have no heart?

They look weirdly familiar. Wasn't one of them leader of the Tories for a while? Oh and the one on the left was definitely mayor of London.

extra props for the ad banner in the BG. one of the more pricey brands which uses like, the most inedible cereal filler stuff making them poor dogs sicker than they already are.

for a while I was mulling a story idea about a world where dog owners became anthro dogs of their pet's breed during halloween, and one or more of their dogs would become anthro as well. then I asked myself, what happens with "those" breeds and their owners? the result was nightmare fuel.

due to the shape of the skull of this breed, their eyeballs literally pop out sometimes and the mothers all have to have C-sections when needing to give birth, but aren't they just so cute?????
