First of May is a public Holiday “Labor Day” in Germany. Sometimes, when you are lucky, it’s a Monday; just perfect to take a long weekend off and travel to see the family or just relax. That is, unless you have a project with a pending deadline. For us it’s a “Labor Day” in the literal sense. So, we are back at the workshop.
It’s time to put the cart back in its wheels again. Easier said than done, for if you mix up the order of pieces you want to assemble, you can fuck the whole project up. For two hours, we work in almost silence, putting it all back together. The moving parts get a nice cleaning in W40 and then a thick coating in long-term grease to guarantee a smooth ride.
Eventually the carriage is standing proud and tall again. Tall, indeed; did that thing grow? Or had it been really that tall when we first bought it five weeks ago?
The day isn’t over, yet. Again, the resin-based surfacer gets the job to fill cracks and dents. As soon as it’s dry enough, Arressia applies a coating in filler, to make the surface even smoother. And as there is still enough time, she adds the first layer of black lacquer.
