This legit bothers me, especially since getting my septum done.

nah, nah. The magnets are at the halfway point of the straight bar, and the curved parts are attached at either end. The furry in question gets a tunnel bored straight through their septum, and the straight parts are just long enough that they meet at the center and hold to one another with the magnets.
That's also sounds painful XD
Like, the septum hole heals very quickly, so if it's not, like, either a super magnet (because it'd be tiny, so it would have to be SUPER strong, especially with how much the flesh moves there), or a solid bar, there's the possibility that the centre of the hole would start closing. Putting another bar in after that would be like repiercing it, or at least putting in a gauge that's too big for the semi-closed portion, which the body would treat as an invader and respond with symptoms of infection, so there'd be pus and the possibility of the body rejecting it. >.>'
