A sotol plant with a bud-shoot in the center. It takes upwards of 15 years to mature, whereupon it send up the flowers, blooms, and dies :P Apparently new plants grow from the dead base, though :)
I believe it makes a bottle of the liquor of the same name. One plant makes one bottle.
