So here is a plot:
The Hero is a young girl (or guy) from another world.
After learning that The Hero "has a weakness for cute creatures", the Demon Lord tries to destroy them by creating a legion of adorable, yet powerful monsters to intercept The Hero and their party.
Unfortunately, The Hero is able to subdue them one by one; fortunately the Hero cannot bring themself to kill the darling little creatures and instead insists on taming them which is much more time consuming and difficult.
As The Hero gets steadily closer and closer to the palace of the Demon Lord, the menagerie or creatures continues to grow, and ordinary monsters find themselves no match for the creatures The Hero has collected.
Ultimately The Hero reaches the Throne room of the Demon Lord, as the two square off the creatures protect the Demon Lord from being harmed by The Hero.
"Master isn't allowed to hurt Papa(Mama?)!!!"
The Demon Lord laughs and mocks The Hero's party and counterattacks.
However they also protect The Hero from the Demon Lord.
"Papa (Mama?) isn't allowed to hurt Master either!!!"
About this time several smoll, obviously weak, and excessively ADORABLE creatures burst into the throne room. Attempt to ram The Hero's creatures, fail miserably (bounce off); try again several more times, until finally taking up position between the two groups in a display of seething/exhausted/impotent/defensive RAGE.
The two sides to the conflict don't really feel like fighting each other at this point and instead agree to a dialog.
The Hero learns at some point that the Demon Lord started to enjoy creating the creatures and began keeping some of them for themselves in the Palace. The Demon Lord has pretty much given up on the idea of taking over the world and destroying humanity (anything that isn't a demon and/or monster), but felt like unless they did something, they would have ended up getting killed by The Hero anyway.
Since neither side can do anything to harm each other because of their pets. They agree to a cease-fire and the Demon Lord orders his minions to begin peaceful relations with Humanity.
The story ends with The Hero and the Demon Lord becoming friends who share the same hobby and end up raising all kind of monster babies together. (Think Cat-Moms and Dog Dads LOL).
