Intro screens for each area and final boss. I really loved mixing traditional mediums with digital art while working on this game. In the early stages of production, much more was drawn by hand (including the ground and some interactive obstacles) but it didn't look right, so that eventually changed. I do like the bold, solid characters against the subtle, pencil backgrounds though. Makes them stand out in a really obnoxious way like they were drawn on cels.
