Okay! So... this is a WIP of Rai of the Mori clan. Rai is the temperamental daughter of the late Takamoto, and granddaughter of the very famous Motonari. She's lost her primary weapon (a Naginata) and wields her favorite swords: Ga-me and Tsune. She just walked out of a battle and is boarding her ship to go back home (though she clearly didn't get to see much action. Oh well, maybe next time Rai!). On her helmet is the mon (badge) of the Mori clan, and just above it you can see her rank (Shochou: Commander) inscription (if you look real hard =X ). She excels in sword fighting and strategy, but her tactics leave a lot to be desired. She is the paragon of zealous energy in all matters of life, which tends to make her rather high-strung, in fact. There is a lot more history to her than that, but this is already half a novel XD

I rather like this piece, despite the lack of true contrast. It took me well over a year to finish this one (I started this just after I finished my first portrait of Kiev), and I still have the background and some details to go. Of course, the actual time I've spent on it is closer to about half a day. Okay.. maybe half a week... And it's done purely with pencils.
