I was reading this article on the newspaper about which one is the most hated minority in the United states right now. Surprisingly are not gays or blacks or mexicans..but atheists. Wow.
That prompted me to make this crude quick comic.
Don't bother to comment. I won't reply. Is not that I am afraid. is just that I don't fucking care.

I kind of take offense to this because I am a Christian.
I don't care if anyone is Atheist or not, and I respect people for their choices because variety is the spice of life, but it sucks that I am thrown into the category of "believe in faeries to ask why the garden is beautiful" category, because it makes me feel like you are attacking me personally in a way when I haven't really done anything. =/
You don't have to reply to this since you've made it obvious that you don't care, but just because one group attacks your beliefs indirectly doesn't mean you should do the same -- be the bigger person and just brush it off like I do.

I remembered when i told someone i was atheist, I swear he was gonna beat me up ti'l i believed in god or something. The worst part was my family, back some years ago they all were catolics, then my older sister became one of those wild-bit-extremist cristians and lured everyone else and they got worst. I was being force to go to a place i didn't want to go a think of someone i didn't believe in, and made me feel ashamed to have doubts about it. it took me 3 years to stand out and shout: the hell with it!! fuck it!! and left the place. now i feel much more better more free, so yeah bob i know the feeling
God, in my own experiance, is just kind of like a safety cushion for your consincious. He (or she) is just something we can be comforted by when we feel bad about ourselfs or our lives. I myself belive in the possibility of a God and that is all that I need, because even if He doesn't exist, I like to think that what I have to say is being listened to.

I don't claim to know whether or not there is a God or any such thing, and it must be very comfortable feeling you know Jesus has saved you, or feeling you know there is life after death, or reincarnation, or whatever.
I do think however that theocracy and religious militancy and a desire to impose religious "morals" on others is the number one threat to world peace and freedom at the moment though. We jihadists trying to impose their strict interpretation of Islam on the world and even in the USA the far religious right seeks to subjugate groups it sees as "immoral" and attack non-traditional families because they feel every family should have a mother and father, and to them destroying families that don't conform is good for society.
I have no problem when people are religious, but when they try to mix it with government it's when they scare me. It really is like believing in Santa Claus and attacking others if they don't agree. I do not deny the supernatural and I really HOPE Jesus saved us, but on the same token I believe government should be free of religious prejudice. I don't need some ancient book to deduce logically what is right or wrong.
Basically I agree with you, other than the fact that I'm not so much of an Atheist as I am someone that condemns the use of religion to subjugate and persecute others and I worry there's nothing more than what we see.
There is no doubt in my mind though that the more governments and societies that keep religion as a personal philosophy and OUT of public policy the better off the world will become. Down the line we will have to worry about overpopulation as science will perhaps lead to even more efficient methods of feeding the world, and we don't need a national policy of "go forth and reproduce" and the shunning of birth control down the line to plunge the world into an even more chaotic state than it is in now.
Please note that I mean no offense by this, but in the USA the general perception is that South of the USA people tend to be even more religious. If that's true, I'm very sorry in that if it's true you're probably even more surrounded by Christianity than in many parts of the USA. I do realize that may just be a Latin American stereotype though.

In my experience, the worst damage is caused by those who ultimately worship themselves. "Look how holy I am. Look at what I am doing for God. I. I. I." Many so called Christians are too busy being Religious to be Christian, if you understand what I mean.
Want to know where I've faced some militancy because of my beliefs? Let's start with atheists I've encountered (not all, but some). One group tried to convert me by trying to confiscate my Bible (only to find out I was actually reading a novel called the Coral Island, but you couldn't see that because I had it laying flat on the table).
Let's continue with gays -- in particular gays who think I am living a lie because although I have an attraction to guys, I never date. And gays who think that I'm living a lie because I don't make a big deal of my homosexuality.
Heck, let's talk to society in general, simply because I think sex is way overrated.
As for keeping religion out of public policy making the world a better place, well... I just want to point out that the 20th anniversary of Tianneman (sp?) Square is coming up, and you can hardly call THAT government religious.

I can say that never been on a date, never kissed a guy let alone had sex. And can say I like guys. :/ they try to help get me out of this social awkwardness I have, though sometimes it doesn't feel appropriate.

Everyone does bad things. But some use religion to justify their evil, while others seek it as a means to extinguish evil, both within themselves and in the world around them.
Painting all religion with such a bad brush is ludicrous. They are as diverse as the people of the world, and many contradict each other. You cannot say all religion is the same when one says "kill" and another says "love", especially in regards to the same person.
Well... you can say it, yet I'm not sure it's all that intellectually sound.

That's a really good way of putting it. :P From your side.
I'm over this whole religion/non-believers thing. Religious people should get over it that someone is going to hell. Just means more time with that guy upstairs for them. And non believers can just laugh in their heads on the mythical nonsense they believe is religion. And then move on with their lives. o_o;

I've seen that quote before, and it sums things up very nicely. One must remember that not all religions are 'religious', in the strict sense, though. One can get the same result from brainwashing people into a fanatical political belief; just look at the stuff the Nazis did, or the Soviet Union, or the proposals put out by the extremist eco-freaks right now.
Dios no existe. Lo que sí existe es el amor. Dios es, segun la biblia, amor.
¿Crees en el amor?
¿Crees en el amor?
For nearly twenty centuries the religionists held to the belief that their particular religion possessed The One Truth . The One Truth empowered its believers to "correct" those who did not believe in what had been revealed as good and moral. After all, once you know right from wrong how can you honestly tolerate those non-believers who are evil and immoral?
Now, just having successfully passed through the Twentieth Century we have seen what god-like power in the hands of the non-religionists like Stalin, Lenin, Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo, Trujillo, ‘Papa Doc’, Mao Zedong, Ceausescu, Saddam, Idi Amin, Pol Pot and their believers achieved. The new god is the god of Science and it's language is cold hard logic.
However, as someone pointed out, there is no morality in logic. So where is the compassion in Science? What branch of provable Science teaches tolerance? I am not at all sure that when men play the part of God that they do any better than all the holy wars, Inquisitions and faith-based hatreds that Humankind has suffered through, BB.

and there is compassion in god? is like saying that santa claus loves ya even if "he" doesn't exists. is lke saying that your best friend is an imaginary friend because the world sucks. that's pathetic.
and all those dictators, they didn't used science as their god but themselves. dictatroships are very much like religions and viceversa.
at least science has cured diseases and resolvd many questions.. did "god" did that?
I don't think so.

Science provided us with the theory of "survival of the fittest", Eugenics, sterilization, gunpowder, poison gas, the atomic bomb and spy satellites just to name a few benefits of Science.
On the other hand, rhetorically speaking, can you prove that God did not inspire the doctors and researchers who finally solved the puzzle of those diseases?
And did those doctors and researchers believe in God?

"Thanks to religion we had slavery"??? Slavery has existed since before the time of Christ. Remember the slave revolt of Spatacus?
'We had racism because of religion?' It was the religious Abolitionists in England and here in the US who were against it, both from the pulpit and in supporting the "Underground Railroad" for escaping slaves.
'Religion stopped women from having rights'? For more than 20 centuries women have not been equal before the law -- around the world, in countries with or without religion. You might want to read about the inequality visited on women today in the tribes of Central Africa or the Amazon, all without the help of relgion. In those very same areas there was and is intolerance practiced against gays, again without crosses, stars, crescents or pagen dieties.
The Holocaust was inflicted by Hitler's anti-religious Nazis.
The Dark Ages were brought on by the collapse of the Roman Empire when it was over-run by barbarians. During those centuries it was the Christian Church that was preserving the knowledge of the Ancients. Without those monks we would never have the writings of Aristotale or Plato to name just two.
I have no clue how religion fits in with the KKK unless you are trying to infer that when anyone commits a crime or injustice and then to escape responsibility for their actions, claims that God told them to do it so the real criminal is religion -- doesn't make it so.
That is not to say that there are not hate-filled fanatics out there who use relgion as their EXCUSE to do evil. War and killing in the name of God and one particular religion over another is not all that different from the wars and the killings committed over the difference between political systems, different skin colors, or ethnic hatreds that set down it's poisonous roots centuries ago.
Like you say, "the list goes on."

slavery in the americas was thanks to the passage on the genesis book where they said that the canaans (africans) should serve them (christians). and if you really think that the holocaust doesn't have religious roots you really live in another reality because they used the "they killed jesus" excuse to brainwash people. KKK? they use crucifix and the bible to make their stuff. and the dark ages had the abuse and delusion of religion until the renaissance!
I know where are you going...you really really think that religions make people better right? besides that's what they suposedly teach huh? love thy neighbor and all that shit. Hey fair enough. If we see the past we'll see that there was lot of ignorance and people NEEDED religions to do good things.
BUT WE DON'T NEED THEM NOW! 3 MILENIUMS AND WE STILL BELIEVE IN HEAVEN AND HELL AND WHO KNOWS WHAT OTHER FAIRY TALE?
Yes many people ddid bad stuff with science. But until religions cure cancer I'll keep at the LOGICAL people side. "without religions you will have good people do good stuff and bad people doing bad stuff, but it takes religion to make good people do bad stuff".
But hey, you are happy believing in the tooth fairy, good for you. be happy. besides I know that no matter how many facts I show you will cherry pick them and twist them to the religious POV. I have learned that one can't convince people of faith because they belief doesn't support facts, just a blind urge for believing.
May god/jesus/budah/alah/vishnu/santa claus/the force be with you.

Uh... you might not reply this, but I simply want to comment.
(Panel #1) Interestingly, the Bible requires belief BEFORE baptism (I think such is in Acts, but a later book is a possibility.) I was also taught that little children have no risk of going to Hell due to their lack of understanding of their actions, though I have yet to pinpoint this...
Also, I found out that Catholism is merely a false Christianity, especially if you consider that said system has the sacraments and Mary worship when mere repention and Jesus are actually taught in the Bible. To go more in your point, Catholism uses infant baptism as a start in the "road to Heaven," while Jesus wants us to make a concious choice.
(Not that related, but the correct sentence part is "when I was too small to...".)
(Panel #2) I feel like screaming "YOU THINK GOD WANTS YOU TO GO TO HELL?" at that pointer (using Psalms 30:5 and that other verse in Ezekiel which I have yet to pinpoint), yet the ends result would not be pretty.
In all seriousness, a loving God who fearfully and wonderfully made you in His image but nevertheless anxious for an opportunity to damn# you simply does not make sense. Also, I have been repeatedly taught that Hell was actually made for Satan and his subordinates, even though God cannot let sin into Heaven.
(Panel #3) I can answer all of those questions for you (if you would like), but all I would say for now is that, from a basic perspective, there is not much difference between God and fairy tales. I would say that God can be proved (and give plenty of evidence to boot), but you most likely heard that many times (albeit without explanation).
(Panel #4) You were actually called "ignorant" for actually thiking critically.
Of course, since no currently living on Earth human being was around at the beginnig of everything, neither Creation or evolution can truly be proved scientifically.
(Panel #5) "Religions and their people had been constantly telling us that the world is horrible and now it is thanks to them..."
I actualy found that bit a bit funny, not because such is "ridiculous," but due to the irony of such.
"I realized that you can't convince a believer that he/she is wrong but they don't ask for evidence, just a blind reason to believe.."
Uh... may you explain that bit for me, please?
Me, I do not think that there is such thing as evil people, but, rather, evil actions.
("It is understandable but wrong...")
(Panel #6) "They have proved us that believing is not harmless at all."
Concerning certain things, I actually agree.
(Author's Comments) In all seriousness, I find such statistic hard to believe, especially with the beating I took because of my faith. However, I also read that, even though 75% of the United States population claims to be Christian, less than 1% of United States adults have a truly Biblical worldview. (19% of all United States people believe that they are saved because of their accepting of Jesus and repenting of sin.)
Me, even though, had I taken the survey, I would have counted as a born-again Christian (I checked about what the survey asked from two different sources.), for several reasons, I do not consider myself the Christian that I should be.
I refuse to execute you for our decision, since your conclusion was based on your experiences, and I share your desire of the right to believe. (Just do not execute me...)
By the way, why is this comic called "The red pill"?

By Horus, that is like an abusive relationship. At least with pagan gods like the Greek pantheon there was no pretend love. They knew their gods saw them as nothing but toys, playthings to be thrown away when they're bored of them. Though....that does make me wonder why they didn't overthrown them.
I admit I am pagan but more for the history aspect and researching ancient cultures and practices. Plus its fun because you have sexy Egyptian gods, like Sobek.
