As the embodiment of death in Halsundra, Jaund has had many names over the years in various old records; Lifetaker, The Gasp, Crooked Decay and other such terms. The name 'Jaund' shows up as well and is one that he seems to use personally. Perhaps his real name, perhaps not.
Jaund is far from a malicious sort, if anything quite the opposite. Fond of travel across the realm, stopping to offer advice and an ear for the troubles people may have. Nobody quite knows that Jaund is the incarnation of death itself, even the most wise scholars don't quite put two and two together! Despite records stating a gentle spirit with a worn staff for walking support, a cracked visage and sunken eyes, a worn purple garb...nobody quite notices or realises who the kindly creature is that has shown up to their home.
His relationship with Baldric (and similarity in picture design) is not by accident. Jaund is quite aware of Baldric's situation and can do nothing but offer sympathies and perhaps try to help him feel calm if he's around. Whilst unable to help Baldric die, at least this way he can try to help Baldric at least feel at ease and not dwell on his trauma as he has become prone to do. Survivor guilt is often hard to deal with, after all.
The Umbral Arts have no effect on Jaund, as much as the affects of death have no effect on Baldric.
Kerze has met Jaund in the past several times, and much like Baldric can do little for his problem than offer his condolences. They get along well however, as Jaund found respect for Kerze after the healer had tried his best to try and fix Jaund's frail leg to no avail.
