A study from this photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tonivc/2316473778/
I realize it's pretty grossly inaccurate compared to the photo, but it was meant to be a practice for other things.
What do you think about this kind of art, guys? Should I bother uploading it here? Do you like seeing it, or should I just stick to furry stuff?

That's a good study, may differ from the original photo but the values and colours look good. And it doesn't differ in the way it's distorted or anything, so you're fine.
I say definitely upload in the future too! Studies a always a good thing and I can see you spent time on this.

At first I had suspicions you just painted over the original image. I'm very PLEASED to discover you reinterpreted it instead. This makes me quite proud of you. It's a fantastic rough interpretation and a well executed study of light, texture, composition and perspective.
Let me tell you something in regards to your own statement. Furry art will never, EVER get you the artistic respect you deserve from anyone who isn't a furry. Incidentally artwork such as this which is both a credible demonstration of general skill and a respectable hurdle for your evolution as an artist, will never be truly appreciated by the average furry. This is sad... for them.
You on the other hand should sport your own TRUE skills and continue to develop your talents through these studies and experiments, and continue to post them.

Well thanks! That's one of the best comments I've ever received here.
The funny thing is that my realistic, non-furry work has actually garnered at least as much attention as my PORN! I didn't expect that at all, but I guess a lot of furries aren't as oversexed as you might think.
Also, I posted a lot of my furry work on a high end art site (Conceptart.org) recently and got a lot of respectful feedback. They didn't seem too put off by it, which I was pleasantly surprised by.
So stereotypes might not always be accurate.
Thanks again! ^^

regarding the stereotypes, well... if it has worked out as such for you its either two things.
1. I'm wrong in carrying on such stereotypes based on my past experiences.
2. Your just much more good natured than my own calloused self.
Either way, I'm glad you've had a positive experience as such all around.

It's always cool to see a well-done scene, and European streets/alleys happen to be one of my favorite places to see art/photos of. It may not be exact, but it's plenty close enough to tell the resemblance while staying your own style.
I get all giddy when I see well done scenes, because I am both awed and in envy of the artists who draw/paint them. I am pretty decent at characters, but I haven't even begun to draw backgrounds and scenery. I also have to admit that this picture in general reminds me so much of a setting for some of my stories. X3 Great work, here and in your gallery as well. ^^
