Zaryene and Giselle are two college-age students attending university. Giselle was literally the only giraffe on campus and Zaryene one of only three zebras and the only female one. Zaryene and Giselle started hanging out simply for someone to talk to who understood the other's predicament and the two became fast friends.

Then one day Zaryene went to a new store that sold home-made jewelry and clothes and picked up an absolutely darling necklace. Which, she discovered, she could use to conjoin people quite by accident when she unintentionally used it on a trio of cheerleaders coming back from a pep rally. They didn't notice it was her -- and they didn't seem to mind -- but she came right home and told Giselle.

Yes, she did try to reverse the effect but apparently the joining was permanent.

Rather than be a voice of reason, Giselle urged Zaryene to...have some more fun with her new powers. Zaryene found out she actually enjoyed 'making new lifelong friends' as she put it. Eventually, Zaryene just had to experience it herself, and asked Giselle if she'd be her 'best friend forever' .

Giselle's never regretted saying 'yes'. Zaryene, needless to say will stilll use her necklace to conjoin people who she thinks would be 'cute' together; Giselle manages to keep her bodymante's urges mostly under control...
