"The carriage rolled up to the jeweler’s shop again and stopped just outside. “Are you sure you want to stay in here Kitty?” asked Sly. “Yes Master…It’s a little embarrassing but…The owner of this jewelry shop is one of the people that’s seen my face before.” she replied a little hesitantly. “I see. Well suit yourself. I will be back in a moment.” said the wolfox closing the door and turning to the shop. “He’s not as domineering as he was when he captured me.” thought Maneki to herself as she thought about Sly’s recent demeanor. “He hasn’t even put me in any bondage today, just the leash this morning. Could it be because he trusts me more? Or because he knows that with these runes on my collar that running would be pointless?” she continued idly. “It truly is a shame that your new pets don’t realize how good they have it now with you as their master.” came Alice’s voice in the feline’s head. Maneki’s thoughts drifted over everything she’s experienced since coming into Sly’s castle. Sure there were some bad points, but overall he’d kept her warm, fed, and with a roof over her head. Though she would have to cater to his whims; would it really be so bad being his pet? It’s definitely better than being Bartholomew’s slave. Her thoughts drifted to Amber, and the air of faint defeat that surrounded her when she wasn’t talking about Sly. The blood stains on her back and the rune on her wrist. What must Bartholomew put her through on a daily basis? She thought hard on what she’s been through. The things she’s seen. “I don’t understand…I should be furious with him for what he’s done…But he’s right…I am seeing him as less of a monster.” she said to herself before the door opened and broke her concentration.

Maneki turned to see Sly climbing back into the carriage carrying the chest from before. She shook her head to snap herself away from her thoughts quickly. “How did it go Master?” she asked. “It went well. It’s finished, and it came out beautifully.” said the wolfox a little excitedly. “May I see it?” she asked curiously. The wolfox nodded to the calico as he opened the chest. Inside lay a hexagonal jewel. The beautiful gem was a deep orange with a purple streak running through the middle of it. “Is…Is that…” “Yep; Tigers-Eye Amber.” responded Sly confirming what the female was going to ask before she could finish. The gemstone sparkled in Maneki’s eyes as she stared at it. “You really like gems don’t you?” asked Sly seeing her trancelike state. “Y…Yes Master…Gems are one of the most beautiful things on the planet.” she replied. “They are quite beautiful to look at.” said the wolfox dismissively. “That’s…not what I meant…” she replied shyly. “Oh? And what did you mean Kitty?” asked Sly genuinely intrigued. “Th…They embody everything I’ve worked towards. The rich have gems. They represent the stable life I’ve always wanted. Even a few really rare ones would let us live comfortably for a while. I guess that’s why I couldn’t see your trap for what it was. I wanted the diamond too much because of what it meant for me and Lucky, and it blinded me till it was too late.” she replied truthfully. Maneki bit her lip softly. There she went again letting this male in on her innermost thoughts and hopes. What was it about him that made her want to talk? Was this really the domineering male that had captured her and Luck and forced them to sign contracts to serve him for the rest of their lives? “Your emotions are a big jumble right now Kitty. I can feel that you’re confused about something.” said Sly watching the worried look on the feline’s face. “I’m…okay. I’m just a little confused. Before; you were very domineering, but here now you’re acting nice, and being civil. Why? Which one is the real you?” she asked confused. “Both. You’ll find that I am a very civil individual. I only act ‘domineering’ as you put it as needed. But if you like I could bring a bit out again if it’ll help you feel more comfortable.” he said with a smirk. Maneki gasped lightly at his sentence. “No please Master…I didn’t mean…” she started as he placed a finger up against her lips. “Silence…On your knees Kitty.” said the wolfox, his tone serious suddenly. Maneki shivered a little. It was as if he’d become a different person. This was the dominant male she was used to. Why did she have to open her big mouth?"
