...And I'm going to bite you in the ass.
I watched parts of Bridesmaids on TV out of context. I knew Melissa McCarthy was in it (a friend told me that), but I didn't expect to see (AND RECOGNIZE!) Kristen Wiig (Erin from Ghostbusters)! I'm so proud of me for recognizing her. I'm so bad with that.
So, based on a scene from that movie...here is Abby, biting Erin's butt.
Oh and they're dogs, but if you don't expect that by now I don't know what to tell you.
This was a MASSIVE practice in shading, or rather, trying to learn how *NOT* to shade. I have decided that since coloring and shading was never something I was actually interested in (and therefore, not something I actively practice the way I practice sketches), I don't know how to do it and it's ruining my art and slowing me down. So for now, until I decide to actually study it (if I ever even do, it's not very important in my line of work, and I really don't like to torture myself if I don't feel passion about something), I must find a way to make my works look OKAY/FINISHED without shading them. But I had to compromise here. Since the background was shaded (and actually, I think I'm fine with shading objects as opposed to living creatures), I thought I had to do at least a little bit of shading, although I actually think it looks best without it: http://sta.sh/0utnx5jzehj
What do you think? Comparing it to the completely unshaded one, do I really need to do shading at all?
I also learned that I can't properly judge my art's quality while looking at it IN PHOTOSHOP. I must save it as a JPG, and view it in an internet browser to best judge it. And I think that's really going to help me - in Photoshop's window, both versions of this work look terrible and it was upsetting me very much. I spent all day on this.
For my art, less is more, I'm learning, so now I need to learn how to shade subtly. I'm making progress though, and I'm intent on making my art better and easier so that I can do commissions without freaking out over every third one. In the meantime please be patient.
