Last month I had mentioned that I was already experimenting with a new character style that I hoped would add some new taste to my VHS effects images. These are the concepts I was playing with, obviously based on Pokémon characters. XD

However, as of this week I had heard of the upcoming "Sonic Forces" video game. This game features a new gimmick allowing the player to create their own character, and many have already predicted that this will start a new wave of Sonic OC fanart, much like one that seemed to die out about ten years ago. As I remember it, a lot of people hated the Sonic fanart style, and I cannot foresee that people would change their minds about that.
Looking at my style I was playing with here, sad to say, but this is bad timing. It really does look a lot like Sonic fanart, and I cannot have this during the Sonic fanart craze/hate wave and have lots of people think I am just adding to it.

So, sorry, but I need to cancel this and try a different style, definitely need to look further at more retro-like stuff, like what there were at around 1970-1985 kind of era. XD I still want to go for a "Catillac Cats" look, so I will keep pushing for that.
