060509 - Sofia has not quit her day job
I've wondered what I should give Sofia for a day job, other than looking pretty in revealing clothes.
Since I'm not particularly original, I tried to imagine what she'd look like as an employee of GameStop or Game Crazy or some other silly game store/pawn shop for video games, which is actually kind of lacking in creativity--this just so happens to be my own job.
So, here she is more or less following the dress code (aside from maybe not tucking her shirt in). Forgive my lack of effort on the background, I just did this really quick based on photographic memory of what the area behind the desk looks like at the store I work at.
That look on her face is more or less the way I feel every waking hour I'm stuck in Game Crazy, somewhere in the realm of crushing boredom and despair at a kind of dead end job. I tend to be a little angrier looking at times, because customers are an annoyance.
Video game store jobs get VERY old after month 2 or 3, and I suppose I wasn't lucky enough to have a stable work environment--I'm basically trying to pick up the pieces in real life now that the boss decided to quit without any kind of notice that he intended to do so. :P Not that it matters, I'm not going to be named assistant manager or anything.

Ugh retail... my retail experience was a cigarette counter at Walmart.
That... at least gave me a cage door to rattle.
I feel for ya, and everyone who's stuck behind a counter.
P.S. I'm pretty sure statue of limitations would apply, but I once had gotten a fake ID for cigs from someone who looked 12... and didn't realize it at the time (it was a pretty good ID, prolly his brother's) meh, my ass if that had been discovered, but ehe, I was in the 'this sucks' phase at the time... never got one since, that I could tell.

There's a GameCrazy by where I live, but I'm done shopping from them. I bought a PSP a while back, and when I did, I bought the extended warranty. I picked the warranty over a hard case because the guy specifically said "In case you have it in your pocket and something hits the screen and breaks it.".
So, barely a month later, I had it in my pocket. I didn't even feel the impact, but when I pulled it out to play it, the screen was completely destroyed. So I tried to go with the warranty.
First, they told me that because it was within Sony's warranty period, they wouldn't touch it.
Then I found out that Sony flatly refuses to do anything for "accident, abuse, or negligence", especially broken screens. They would charge a minimum of $90 to repair my system.
GameCrazy still wouldn't touch it. Eventually, all I was able to get back was a refund on the warranty policy.
It still cost me $80 for the screen, which I replaced myself. >.<
Though, they still treated me a LOT better than GameStop did...
