Hello everyone, Spino here!
I managed to buy a very very very exceptionally awesome commission from
essenceofrapture!
Here we have a pair of Saurischians in one of the many jungles on the Beacon of Fortitude Ringworld, having a buddy moment, fist bumping. Perhaps they did something really awesome, or discovered a subject of importance while Surveying together?
I really really love how you did the lighting and shadow-shading of the surrounding jungle the two are standing in, as wrll as the anatomy on the two of them, just like how I imagined they are in my head ^_^
The light against or on them looks amazing as well, and the jumpsuits look fanatastic too.
A very important thing about this picture, is you get to see what one of the Raptorans -Deinonychus- looks like! All the Dinosaurs on the ringworld had been genetically modified and manipulated by the Tractatori, a now long dead reptilian alien race that had built the ring as a sanctuary or preserve long ago.
They all adapted and evolved to the ring's environment and climates, effectively becoming aliens themselves, with many traits and natural "abilities" among other things. With all the genetic manipulation and modifications, the Saurians are essentially Artificial Life Forms. While the Ceratopsians, Stegosaurus and Ankylosaurus species became decently humanoid or "anthro" in shape, other Dinosaurs retained their primal or "feral" body shapes, and gained diffefent evolutionary traits.
For example, Raptorans' arms -as well as the larger theropods- grew longer and stronger, so they may manipulate, grab, and utilitze objects, weapons that aren't their natural arsenal, and more. Unlike their terran ancestors, the Raptors -and larger theropods- did not grow feathers, becoming more reptilian than avian. One of the raptors' fingers, became a thumb, except its still long and finger like, and their fingers are not as articulate as terran hands. They grew spines on their heads and backs, which can also quiver or twitch from time to time.
Despite their evolutions, every Dinosaur still posesses their primal urges or habits -for example, Raptorans still enjoy pouncing onto people, disemboweling them, or going for the neck to make a quick deathblow. Majority of the Raptoran species' teeth, are on the outside of their mouths a bit, giving them an alien, intimidating appearance. Not to worry, they do not suffer enamel due to their saliva -just like every other Alien Dinosaur- actually being a slimy, thick resin fluid that is secreted and generated from inside their bodies, lubricating their teeth.
The raptors just like their alien brethren, posess natural night vision, which makes the world look lavender, where as organics or anything that generates heat, orange-red (No not like predator), similarly to a pit viper snake. But unlike the other Dinos, the Raptorans are able to lessen their thermal signature or body heat to be more difficult to track via thermal imaging or sensors. This also means they can be hard to spot at night for the saurian night vision too, unless one were to look really close at the environment.
And just like the other Dinosaurs, the Raptors wear skin-tight jumpsuits as well, though everyone doesn't have to when they are not in active service and etc. Its just recommended if you are going into a combat zone and so forth, so don't be surprised if you see "naked" Saurischians walking around -there isn't anything to really see since they are sexless aliens.
As for why neither of them have facial markings, I decided to make the pair ambiguous
-just so you can see what they look like, plus these are not..."established" characters with names -yet-, non worries.
As for sizes, Ceratopsians are 12-13 feet tall, while Raptorans -excluding Troodon who is 3 feet tall, and Dakotaraptor being 9 feet tall- are 8-8.2 feet tall. This Deinonychus is standing on a rock so it can manage the fist bump in the first place.
Thank you so much
essenceofrapture! I really really appeciate and love this art piece! Thank you for letting me commission you!
If any of you want or to see REALLY excellent art, drop by their gallery/profile

Thank you again!

I like how the Raptorans have a mixture of feral and anthro features. For years, I had tried to keep my uplifted dinosaurs as anatomically correct as possible. But I finally decided to go with functional arms when designing Azgeh, and the idea of having "paleomorphs", "mesomorphs" and "neomorphs" was born, with her fitting into the latter category. :)
I also like how, while you have both anthro and (semi) feral dinosaurs, the more feral ones are still intelligent and are respected by at least some anthros apparently.

I really, dig the redesign of the trike here! I also like how they're uplifted. In my setting, uplift plays a big role and was once a widespread galactic phenomenon, which after millions of years became something more like a lost art, practiced only by the Ssarquoy under strict moderation. As dinosaurs, the Ssarquoy are elder sapients passing their gifts onto younger species.
The reverse sometimes happens too, such as whole species being de-uplifted if they prove to be unworthy of their gift of sapience by becoming too self-centered and dangerous to other forms of life.

Ohhhhhhh, I’m talking about Arez, not Dharan. But I mean like more development of his original alien culture and species, but since they were wiped out, only what I have established as-is is what he has XD. Could expand more on Dharan, now that I just mentioned him LOL
