Sir Roger Moore, the actor who played James Bond in seven films between 1973 and 1985 has passed away today. He was 89. He was one of my favourite portrayals of Bond with his fun and light hearted demeanour and a lot of fun scenes were in his films too. I think out of them all my favourite was "The Spy Who Loved Me", closely followed by "For Your Eyes Only".
Speaking of "For Your Eyes Only", Roger's favourite car in the series was a battered bright yellow Citroen 2CV, which makes an unlikely getaway car when his Lotus Esprit is destroyed and is forced to get away in this instead, against two far more powerful Peugeot 504 saloons. In the end, it made for an interesting and exciting chase through the Spanish olive groves!
A video of the chase is here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SP.....ad8&t=132s
Roger also released a book a few years ago called "Bond on Bond", about his experiences of the films and his thoughts on them. It is really good and I highly recommend it for any Bond fan :)
Thank you for the memories Sir Roger. We'll miss you.

Twas a lovely car. Teres a fella in Miami here with the largest 007 collection in the world. He has an example of every car from the films, tons of props a HUGE collection of classic perchandise, etc. He even has the full size mockup of Goldfingers Lockheed Jetstar which also served as the U.S. government Jetstar at the end of the film. AND has the little model used for the inflight exterior sequences.

(What I really want though is a snippet from the Patagonia special where the 2CV is chosen as the forfeit car)

You know, the 2CV used in the movie wasn't exactly stock...
They fitted the 1.2L 4cyl Boxer motor from the GS in it. That engine produces 60BHP, just about double what the 2CV had as stock. That does some interesting things when it comes to power to weight ratios...
Also, that engine is very revfriendly...
The red line at the tachometer is at 7500RPM, but will do 9000 during accelleration...
(The GS hadd a top speed of 150Km/h, about 93mph, and it's a heavier car. )
With the right gearbox it should win quite a few 'red light duels' in intersections.
