This is a promo piece for the new comic I am working on, Across Thin Ice.
It will be the first book in the Nordguard Trilogy and will be a fully painted, color graphic novel with each volume coming in around 90 pages. Want to know more? Want to see a whole lot of art for it? Sure you do! Go see it at:
A lot of the development artwork is up, with more coming soon, and that's where finished pages will be.
ALSO, Sofawolf Press will be giving away 100% free 18x24 posters of this bad boy at AnthroCon in July. No purchase necessary, available while supplies last and you can pick one up from their dealer's island!
And, to add what Brer from Sofawolf Press clarified in his comment below:
"[Replying for Sofawolf] To expand on what Blotch mentioned above about the poster... What we will be doing is releasing a certain number (about 200 ish) each of the three days of the con, to be available when the doors to the Dealer's Room open in the AM. So, if you miss the first day you have an equal chance of getting one on Saturday or Sunday.
We'll be requesting folks abide by a "no more than two per person at a time" policy, to give everyone a fair shot while still allowing people to grab ONE for an absent friend.
We should be easy to find. We have a big, central island table this year and I think it is the first thing you should see as you go in the doors. We're not yet sure what the display will look like, but unless we fail miserably it should be obvious it is Sofawolf Press."

I just have to say I'm super excited for the Nordguard Trilogy! The amount of detail you've put into this is amazing. Plus I have to say I'm already in love with 'Skullface' and 'Nickel' and I don't even know their characters yet. Well, I don't want to sound too much like a fangirl but seriously, you guys are inspiring! I wish I could made it to AC to nab a poster D:
Neat, Looks like very jacklondondish in terms of enviroment and inspiration, I really like it. The artwork looks fantastic by now.
I'm "shocked" to see a Female as a key character in a comic of yours, which pleases-me very much. Also looking forward to see some really deep and fierce emotions and facial expressions this time, instead of the "Ever gay and light" tone of your previous comics.
Keep the good work you two.

Wow isn't this a step forward!! A Series is this? I can only see a start of something amazing from it. I think this being a series will easily hook new readers and possibly people who are not yet of the fandom. If this is clean (sex wise) then this would be a real good way to see the fandom from say, a barnes and nobles or any comic shop. Do you have a general guesstimate of how many volumes you want to take with this?
Wow..
Thats my actual expression, REALLY!!!
I You are allways surprising me, the story sound´s cool (reminds me the time of the lackadaisy comic)
Ok.. There a lot of comments here.. and a lot of favs and a LOT of comments....
In 3 hours.. amazing like allways ;]
P.S: srry if my english sucks XD

[Replying for Sofawolf] Sorry, they will not -- owing to the massive pain that is involved in packing and shipping posters (as we learned with the Kama Citra). So, your best bet is to identify someone going to AC and have them nab you one.
There is an off chance that we may have them for FurCon too, but can't say that for certain at this point...

Lt James McKay = Nova Scotia Ducktoller Dog. *Chuckles* Recently inducted into the North American Dog Breeder's recognized hallowed halls. And I'm from there, (Nova Scotia that is, not the Dog Breeder's!)) and my neighbour owns one. They are distinct and have identical markings on all animals of the breed. White toes, one white chest splotch and red all over. No change....very odd, like photo-copied dogs.

Simply I saw this just some time after I planned out Seventh Polaris.
I take this effect as a neutral thing, since the idea of North is in Nordguard too >.<
Though Seventh Polaris concentrates more on an arctic war in in the northern Europe and North pole...
But few moments later I looked at the maker, and frightened - I remembered the name, and realized you made Dog's Days of Summer too, which was awesome. ^.^
I just can't wait for this one, not only do I love arctic theme, this looks too interesting for me to ignore =D

i wish i was going to AC :< no way to get a poster without going to AC?
regardless of that i love the idea. wasn't exactly sure how you were going to go after the characters when i read your journal. whether they were feral or anthro, and if there'd be humans as part of the team. I have to say i think this approach, both unexpected and exciting...will be quite fun to read. my best wishes to you on the endeavor. I'm sure you'll do beautifully well.

Nope, they won't be selling them. They were available for free at AnthroCon and in tended as a "con-only" sort of thing. They will also have some at their table at ComicCon later this month in San Diego, and most likely at FurtherConfusion in San Jose next January, so if you're attending, or know someone who is, they could snag you one. :]
Slow but steady! :]
Now and again I post non-spoiler sketches and finished pages to the Nordguard [url=http://nordguard.livejournal.com/]Livejournal and [url=http://nordguard.com/]website if you're curious.

The Characters from Nordguard, the are very cool and very realistic!
A good scene for "Acorss thin ice"is it when Nickel would be kidnapped by the enemy troop and the would bring Nickel in a sawmill. The enemy troop enchain Nickel on a tree-trunk and they would execute him by a circular saw, before Nickel would be cut into halves, but the "other Nordguard"come to rescue Nickels life just in time before he will be killed.

I cannot WAIT for this. As somebody who grew up on comic books and graphic novels, ElfQuest, Tintin books, etc, Nordguard looks insanely attractive to me. Blotch, your prints and single pieces are staggeringly good as it is, I can barely imagine what a full 90 pages of Blotch art in a graphic novel is going to be like.
I'm thinking it'll be like a combination of euphoria and an explosion of some kind. Needless to say, I will be first in line for this. Also I have to say this project looks to be massively ambitious, and from what I've seen so far, I have no doubts that it will rank up there among my favorite graphic novels. I am so glad you guys are using your immense talents to do something as focused and as difficult as this. Committing years of your lives to this project takes intense dedication, and I, for one, am truly grateful. I can't wait to read it. Cannot wait.
