After their schooling, every Kitty visits the temple of Dee-Tay, the god of Earth and Love, to receive their Pawfate. The pawfate is a mark upon the paws that symbolizes a kitty's unique purpose and role in life, as given to them by Dee-Tay.

When young Dawn visited the temple and put her paws upon the Sacred Statue, the Statue crackled and exploded. Dawn's paws were burnt pitch black, and she was given the name Dawnbreaker. Fearing Dawnbreaker's horrible, dark fate, she was exiled from the Kitty Kingdom and forced to live hiding in hostile territory. Her only hope is to find the true cause of her horrible destiny.

This quest leads her across all 25 Kingdoms of Felintria, and eventually to the very Realm of the Gods, where Dawnbreaker and her friends realize that the gods might not be as just and caring as they once believed....
