I originally just had the idea for the bottom image by itself, but it felt like it lacked context.
Mainly because I don't know how much I've made clear previously about Vilkas's mentality after Beijeye died, and with the still-fairly-limited context here, I'm not sure how that bit of dialog really comes across.
Vilkas is saying that as a mix of drunken cocky sarcasm, sort as a challenge, and also out of apathy for his own life. No one really seems to realize the mental toll Beijeye's death took on him. Except Crescent, he sees that something is clearly very wrong and is worried about Vilkas, but Vilkas refuses to talk to Crescent because he doesn't think Crescent could understand. Twilight is a bit dense in the empathy department, she knows what Vilkas has been through but doesn't get how traumatized he still is, and is just trying not to lose her patience with all his self-destructive outbursts. Ichibay doesn't know Vilkas well enough to even know there's something actually wrong, he just thinks Vilkas is a jackass and only tolerates him because Twilight is their mutual friend, though he ends up being the one to really figure it out later.
