Gold is its currency fundamentally at its core and all other coins are made from metals that are either less or more valuable comparatively to gold. All coins in Lusterious use molds that are the same size to get roughly the same quantity so all currency has the same value despite each country having its own unique printings for their currency. This means currency from one country is typically useable in just the same way in another.
All of this means inter-country trade is very easy and convenient. There is little currency confusion and currency exchange is usually nonexistent because it's just not necessary.
It takes 100 coins to make an ingot so 1 ingot of that metal is worth 100 of those coins.
