I primarily play on a PRS SE Custom guitar, and to record I play through a Line6 TonePort - which is basically an external USB soundcard you can plug an instrument or mic into. It comes with a lot of different amp/cab models, effects, mods, and all that shit so it's pretty fun to jam with and mess around on.

No, the drums come from a mixture of drum samples from real sets I program onto beats in FL, and more recently a lot of EzDrummer also mixed with these samples.
You should definitely give the TonePort a try - it's the best way to record guitars for the price (considering I got mine for only $50). If you mess around with it for long enough, you can almost kind of get rid of the overly digital sound of the distortions. As for recording software, I use Mixcraft to set and record all of my instruments. I also use Goldwave to finish mastering and mixing my songs.
