I happened to find this in one of my old replies to an anon on a blog I haven't used in years. I tweaked it some. There are probably hundreds of my poems out there that I've never bothered saving x.x. Glad I found this one.

Cue up some Elton John:
And someone saved my life tonight sugar bear
You almost had your hooks in me, didn't you dear?
You nearly had me roped and tied
Altar-bound, hypnotized
Sweet freedom whispered in my ear
You're a butterfly
And butterflies are free to fly
Fly away, high away bye bye.
And someone saved my life tonight sugar bear
You almost had your hooks in me, didn't you dear?
You nearly had me roped and tied
Altar-bound, hypnotized
Sweet freedom whispered in my ear
You're a butterfly
And butterflies are free to fly
Fly away, high away bye bye.
Oh, and for an added bonus, the best performance he ever did of that particular song is considered to be the concert he did in Central Park on 13 August 1980. That was when Elton was still nicely coked up, and just a couple of years before he permanently lost his falsetto range.
However the one performance from that concert that people find really, really creepy these days, is when he did Goodbye, Yellow-Brick Road.

Right as he sings the lines:
When are you gonna come down?
When are you gonna land?
The camera pans across the WTC.
And then there's the later lines:
What do you think they'll do there?
I bet they'll shoot down the plane...
Creepy coincidences. Just like the cover art for Saga's album Images At Twilight.
