I do have one issue with your composition: the red temple is almost dead centre, which has long been considered the dullest point within a frame. If it were off-centred, and balanced more dynamically with the more distant temple and the lone traveller, I think the picture would gain in visual interest, a sense of scale, and especially in the implication of movement: in the sense of a destination being reached... or yearned for.

>>Yeah I realise the composition is like shit.
No, not like "shit" -- merely not as effective as it could be. Strictly a matter of technique.
It's very good to be hard on your work; but you don't have to be hard on yourself.
>>I went through so many varations but in the end I just gave up trying to save the focal rhythm and closed the damn thing.
When that happens, it's most likely best to move on. No harm done, because good ideas never vanish: they just reappear in unexpected ways, at unexpected times.

Yes, fair enough, I tend to translate imprefections in the work into personal problems, and I agree, I can let an effort go with the knowledge that I've added a couple of neural pathways..
Interesting you mention Roerich as I have in fact been doing studies of late 19th-Century Russian painters recently.

Yes, I can see that. :)

I can see that, as well. But I hope that you can move beyond this tendency... because I can also see potential in your work, and I would hate to see you burn out before you could explore this potential.
Take good care of yourself. :)

I especially love the 16:9 ish aspect ratio of the painting! Make me feel like its an epic movie scene (which I would love to score btw - Maybe i will *giggles*)
Fantasic color , detail and style! I can totally see you being picked up as a storyboard artist or... any kind of field that you want :)
