As I know. Amaterasu aren't identify about his/her gender. So... He/She can be male or female. His/Her gender depend on people who look at him/her.

I think I shell wait to Japanese tell the true story about his/her.

It doesn't have to have it equipped 24/7 yannoe =D

There's always the other 3 wheels without elemental attributes on them, or the beads or the kusanagi variants, all of which are non-elemental except their Ultimate forms =D
