Para mi mejor amiga con muchisimo cariño. n_n Espero te guste cachorra.
For my best girl friend.
Boceteado en OC y terminado en photoshop, uno de los mas dificilies que me he animado a hacer (por obvias razones jeje) me gusto mucho el resultado.
Sketched in OC finished in PScs3, i love how she looks here.

That is definately one of the better drawings I have seen being produced in OC. It truly shows the power an artist can have with such a relatively simple tool.
I like how her muzzle is a different style than I have seen in oyur previous pics. Very blocky, which looks quite nice.
The shading and highlights are gob-smackingly well executed. What amazes me more is the sea and clouds you have drawn. Simply beyond beautyfull. It tramples 98% of all other artists out here.
About the character design, I also like how she has feathers for hair (which are also drawn to an excellent standard) and the three different colours on her upper arms/lower arms/hands.
However, as awesome as the drawing is, her wings look awkward. You have shown you can draw feathers to an excellent standard,so what went wrong? I think you should have defined their outlines a bit more, it looks more like loose clumps of fur than feathers.
I hope you don't mind if I sav this to my harddisk, enlarge it 400 times and try to discern haw many layers of colours you used to achieve such almost seamless blending and to look at other details (like how you did the sea and clouds!).
Also, how long did this actually took to draw you, and what was the pixel size of the canvas?
There must have been a lot time spent on this, but it has been time well spent. I thank you for sharing this!

Wow! those words are really really nice, im really happy that you apreciate this piece, and yes it was a kick in the ass XD but all worth it
Well, the clouds are brushes of photoshop, and the sea was 3dsMax > dreamscape plugin.
I used around 8 layers in total... 1, color base. 2, shades. 3, highlight. 4, tail and feathers, also horns wings and hair. 5, Aerial perspective. 6, sea. 7, clouds and small fixes, like more shadings, the reflection and shines of the water, sand under water that gives depth... ah.. and clothes in another one.. around 8 layers. If you see my other work called "Curious Cat" the character was made in one layer, all painted.
I sketched her head in open canvas in a 1000x1000 canvas, her body ( a lot more difficult lol) in a 2000x2000 cavas, fixed and croped in PS.. the final full work is 4000x2448 pixels. And i spent around... 4 hours at night, by 4 nights.
Glad u like it pal!

Good artists deserve good comments. It is our bread and butter, it keeps us going... ^^
What brush did you use for the clouds? A standard one or your own?
About the layers, that was'nt really what I meant but was still helpfull. What I meant was how you achieved the gradient of the shadows and how many different shades you used to get such a smooth effect.
Glad you drawed it pal! ^^

Just like I expected....
Holy shit dude, to be able to draw shadows like that without nifty Photoshop tools is awesome! X3
Hmmm, opacity? You changed the opacity of the brush like 20 times, or am I thinking that wrong?
Did you do something like this?
Select base colour.
Lower opacity and draw shade.
Lower opacity again and draw deeper shade.
Lower opacity again and draw an even deeper shade.
Et.c etc.
Am I correct?
