Another deck, this time it's Jamie's and its a good one.
Although it may be changed over to an 'exaltation' deck in Arc 2, Jamie currently uses a White/Green legend deck that, thanks to "Glittering wish" which opens up her whole sideboard and, in true casual play, the multicolored cards in her collection.
Offesivly the deck starts out with cards like "Watchwolf" as the main attackers and defenders, while using "Birds of Paradise" to produce quick mana that can be used to pull up bigger creatures such as "Tolsimir Wolfblood" or the dreaded "Phytohydra"
Even better, once the hydra is out, along with a nice "Pariah's Shield", an opponent will be unable to attack without running the risk of pumping up the equipped hydra without any ill effect to Jamie herself. Better still the option for "Stuffy Doll" is always open, which can provide her with a more directly damaging damagesink that cannot be subjected to most destruction spells.
This is coupled with the massive search ability available to the deck. along with its many wishes Noble Front has four "Eldamari's Call" to draw on making every creature in the deck only two mana away.
That mana is even easier to produce with a full complament of "Mirari's wake" in the deck. Three of the four are left in place while one is left in sideboard, giving a 7 in 60 chance to 'draw' the enchantment which not only provides extra mana for each source tapped but also grants a boost to creatures. "Chorus of the Conclave" also helps by turning any bleedoff mana that would result into +1/+1 counters for creatures.
Other cards such as "Captain Sisay", "Reya Dawnbringer", "Reki, the history of Kawagama" and "Iwamori of the Open Fist" all work in concordence with each other to help speed up the deck by producing a chain of sorts that can allow jamie to draw when she wishes. This chain is a fallback for when a more efficient combo combining Reki and Tolsimir wherein Tolsimir's wolf token will be sacrificed for a new one that triggers Reki's ability.
The overall deck is still creature oriented, but has the versatility to keep players guessing and provide both a powerful offense and stable defense.

Mana Birds (birds of paradise) are horridly vulnerable to early blasting like Lightning Bolt, and for a very reasonable cost, Fireball can take them all out.
I don't know about it anymore, but Mana Birds used to be extremely rare... that's a lot of money in one deck. In fact, unless they started reprinting some of these cards, I'd say at least a thousand-dollar deck. Mana birds alone account for over half of that cost.

the BoPs got reptrinted in 10th I think, So really this is more a hundred dollar deck, perhaps more or perhaps less depending on how much of it she pulled. Keep in mind though that Ester and Jamie save allowances and buy one box each month, so between that and selling back unwanted cards to Jimmy or other game shops, it would offest the cost.
Admittedly though this would be one of the more pricey decks posted, but It is also one of the more effective. Thankfully most of the rares in it right now are 1, 3 and 5 dollar ones including some relatively cheap and underappricated legends.

Still can hurt if they start blasting your mana. That's the problem with BoP/Lanawar Elves/etc... sure, it's extra mana without needing to drop another land, but it can be blasted. Heck, there used to be a combo Walking World? (the one that makes all lands also count as 1/1) + Pestilence = no lands. Unless you have swamps, and a Bad Moon, so all my swamps, which are black, are higher than 1/1 and so don't die. Really nasty combo in a Thrull Deck (4x breeding pits + 4x thrull champion + 4x Bad Moon with 4x Demonic Tutor and 4x Dark Ritual to make sure they get out quick).
I suppose I could put together a 'virtual' deck based on some of the ones I used to play with, just for grins and giggles.

Well everything has a flaw, and yes mana creatures like that can be burned easily, but then that is always a potential problem. Really the BOPs are mainly there to help speed up the overall deck early on though, and are not vital. If even one of them can pull out a wish then its done its ob, and if not then a burn spell has hit one of them rather than Sisay, Reya (who can bring them back out) or any of the other non-defensive creature.
Really with this deck once a doll or hydra drops with a shield out... the game is mostly over. I need to find that enchantment that protects artifacts/enchantments because that would probably end up being one of the 'upgrades' this deck gets later, but still that combo would shut down any burn deck right away... as would Justice for that matter. Hmmm I may have to tweak this a bit.
Hydra is easy to drop, a simple Fear and it is gone. Failing that, do more damage than it has defense. Preferably with a Disintegrate.
I used to do something similar with a green/blue deck with a Fungisaur + Tiny Tim (Prodigal Sorcerer). Fungisaur, like Hydra, gets bigger every time he gets hit, although he only starts off a 2/2. Tiny Tim taps to do one point of damage to target creature or player. So every turn, I poke the fungisaur, making it bigger and bigger.
Basilisk+Lure works too, if you are playing against a green deck. Throw Regen on the basilisk for even more fun.
The way to counter a burn deck would be to throw in some CoP red/black, since you are already running with White. Very common, very annoying to burn decks. Disenchants would also help.

Thats just it though, creature kill spells work, but damage does not.
Damage that would be dealt to it is chagned into +1/+1 counters, and with Pariahs shield, any time YOU would get hit for damage, IT takes damage instead. With a full complement of Hydras and Stuffy Dolls (which redirect damage to an opponent when they would take it) anything not running disenchants or direct kill spells is out and out done for unless it gets the right counter spells off at the right time.
Even then that would most likely eat up spells needed to take care of Jhedit, Tolsimir and the watchwolves, all of which are pretty potent weenie beat sticks in their own rights and all but the wolves able to produce tokens.
That combined with creatures like the Wurm, sledges and cloaks in reserve mean that to get rid of that major threat still exausts resorces enough to detract from the MINOR threats that can grow up as a result. The end idea is that you pick your poison, but its either staving off a fast beat down from green and white, or becoming ineffectual in damage-dealing. Granted some decks could take care of both, or do one well enough to save itself, but no deck is perfect.

Absolutely, it's a multi-threat deck, although somewhat slow to build up if you are unlucky in your draws (IIRC the hydras are pretty high mana cost). Remember, though, that Hydras CAN get killed if they take more damage in one round than it has Toughness. And with the Shields, you would HAVE to target them directly.
The thing I like about this deck is that conventional tactics won't work on it, you have to think 'outside the box' to find a way to beat it. A Creature Destroyer deck will probably handle it conventionally, but that's the only one off hand I can think of. Either that or your typical cheezy millstone+howling mine combo to run you out of cards.

Really? Wow, I've been out of the loop. I thought they simply got the counters if they survived the attack... that's a nasty critter. If I knew I was facing that, I'd build a creature destroyer deck with Basilisk + Lure + Regen type combos (I'm sure these days, there would be other ways to simply flat out kill critters in mass quantities). Of course, that wouild still leave you vulnerable to D's deck, which would likely destroy you before you have a chance to destroy them.
Mill Decks are cheap. Of course, that's why you have Library of Leng + Ivory Tower when you know you're going to face one.
Oh, here's an idea for the flight deck... feathered something? Island Paradise. It's an enchantment, you can choose to not go through your draw phase, if you do then you are not able to be attacked or to attack with non-flying creatures until your next draw phase. Not only does this protect the deck when necessary, it's the perfect counter against mill decks.
I used to have a Thrull Deck that got up and running pretty quickly, pretty nasty too. 4x breeding pits (which generate a 0/1 thrull token that counts as a black creature every turn for free), 4x Bad Moon (now they're 4/5), 4x Thrull Champion (+1/+1 to every Thrull in play, now they're 8/9). So now I'm getting, for free, 4x 8/9 critters. It's a weenie deck... that isn't so weenie. Toss in a couple of Pit Lords to block flying attacks and you are golden. With a couple of complete sets of Urza's Lands and some Dark Rituals/Soul Rings, it got up and running... FAST. Had some Pestillences in it too so I could wipe out weenie blockers before my onslaught. Only problem was that it was monochrome, which has its disadvantages.

Obstinant familiar is also good when using a Mill deck, considering they make sure you cannot lose from being unable to draw. You really should at least read up on some of the things they have out now. But yes there are plenty of ways to deal with a deck like this, but beatdowns of most any sort are going to be Dissappointed. Ruth's deck especially would hurt since by the time some of those massive creatures came to fruition this deck could have a doll or Hydra with the shield out (making direct attack of a player moot) or even that nice big 10/14 Wurm with a few stat boosters out.
