Introducing... Little John!
Adopted as a tiny puppy by an adoring family, "Little" John soon outgrew his name. As this boxer got bigger, his humans started to lose interest. Little John himself could not understand what he was doing wrong. As a pup, he got whatever he wanted, but as time passed he was treated more like a burden than a companion. Pretty soon, his humans would occasionally forget to feed him and he would have to scavenge whatever scraps he could find around the house. Occasionally they wouldn't remember to let him outside when it was time for him to, well, "mark his territory", causing him to do so indoors. This was always met with a scoulding. As for going out for walks... that novelty was long gone. One morning, having not eaten for a day, Little John was sniffing around the kitchen and came across a large bag of sausages in a cupboard. After knocking them out all over the floor (among other various things that flew out the cupboard), his humans yelled at him and snatched the sausages away. Being deprived of the nourishment he so desperately needed, Little John became infuriated and bit one of them on the hand. This got him banished to the garden for the rest of the day. Although things certainly looked grim at first, getting locked outside turned out to be the best thing that had ever happened to him.
That day, Robin came into the garden digging for worms, for a nearby bird that had an injured wing. He noticed Little John looking sad and very thin, who explained his situation and the way his relationship with the humans had gone so downhill. Robin was disgusted, and demanded that Little John escapes while he has the chance, and helped him do so by instructing him to move a few objects around the garden to create some steps, which he then used to climb to the top of the wall, and jump right over. Even when starving, this dog had some impressive muscle on him. That day, Little John became the first stray to live with Robin in Sherwood Forest. Robin had to teach Little John how to hunt and how to take care of himself without humans around (something he was getting pretty good at thanks to being so neglected). Due to his past, Little John distrusts humans now; their very presence can cause him to go wild with rage. Fortunately, now that he works alongside Robin and eventually the other strays, he has an outlet for his anger. A strong and and skilled fighter, Little John is determined to make sure that no other animal has to suffer the way he did.

Early character concept for "Robin and the Strays of Sherwood". Backstories and basic personalities are pretty much there, but the characters' aesthetic designs may still change and their personalities will develop over time.
