As promised. I dug up the original drawing I did for my first submission to the fandom directory back in the late 80's Here I thought I had all the bases covered, The wording, the Fandom Directory logo cleverly rendered, and a clever theme. but no! It got rejected. The editors never really explained why it got rejected, it could have been due to too much art being submitted. Keep in mind at the time I did this, I did not know an active furry fandom existed and of course later in life, I figured it may have been the tainted rep the fandom got, but way back then???
The scanner did not do any justice to this because the artwork is huge. For the benefit of those who can't read my writing, I will translate:
Front of box: Fandom Directory
Comics, Fantasy, Pulps flavor
Serves 20,000 fans
Side of box: Ingredients: Your Imagination!
It seems quite odd that with the likes of Steve Martin and Fred Patten judging that I would have gotten a shot, oh well, it was a different time then.
The only thing that gives me some happiness is the fact that I outlived the fandom directory! Hah, In your face Fandom Directory!

Nope, it was my first attempt at using zip-a-tones. Back then personal scanners were not really available so I had to take the artwork to Kinkos to have it scanned, had copies made and mailed a photo ready copy to the art contest director.
It was also my first attempt at producing something professional, it bombed, eh?
