Secondly, this is a possible scene from the end of my in-progress novel "Eidolon". This an alternate version of Ikodo's final form, a more technology-driven version:

After the destruction of Earth, humans were thought to be extinct, but later, one of these last remaining cities was found. A program built into the Eidolon chip, built into Ikodo, borrows matter from a parallel universe to give him special abilities and calls for him to finish off the remainder of human civilization. He stands now, atop a building, looking at the destruction he has caused. Deep down, the true Ikodo cries for the destruction to stop. Inside, Ikodo is in tears, but the programming in the Eidolon chip will carry Ikodo onwards towards more destruction.
