Ever play pathfinder? If you play and alchemist, you can pick the vivisectionist archetype, which gives you the ability to perform surgeries that have the same effect as the spells: 'baleful polymorph' (forcefully turns someone into an animal), 'anthropomorphic animal,' or 'awaking' (grants sentience to an animal giving them the ability to speak and take a class ranks). I once took part in a campaign where the big bad was a crazed vivisectionist with an army of furries. fun times
