i mentioned earlier i was dismayed at the Bubsy revival. 8I

I mean, ShaqFu "revived" an old title ... but that's actually a misnomer.
- the studio acquired the rights ... but they openly admitted that the old game was terrible
- they got to work with Shaq, he's actually a fairly genuine goof
- Any rate, they stripped away everything from the original save "Shaq punches stuff" and turned it into an entirely new brawler
- They also used the INFAMY of the old game as a talking point to get attention ... and basically nothing else.

Bubsy is a straight continuation. This is terrible because the first game was a mess. The second game was a twisted fever dream of confusing narrative (that didn't fix any issues). And the third generally lands on top 10 worst console games ever (usually withing top 5, and GUARANTEED to do so if it's worst platformers). It's not a good thing to continue.

So ... that leads us to these two redesigns. These were more just minor tweaks, but I realized something while doing it ...

Bubsy is an asshole that immediately bombards you with jokes and sass without actually EARNING IT.

He basically breaks the rule that Bugs Bunny eventually followed = the main character should have volition and wits, but they shouldn't be the aggressor in a conflict. Someone else needs to start the fight in a way that lets the viewer feel justified when the hero one-ups them and leverages the retribution.

After I realized that I entirely scrapped these two designs and went with ... well ... scrapping his entire personality (to what you see in the main pic)
