I know he's only still popular because of memes. I know it's something no one asked for. I asked them because I thought it was weird. A new bubsy game after all this time? If it succeeds we're all in for a weird ride.

I'll freely admit Bubsy 2 was weird and not all that good, and I never even played the horror that was Bubsy 3D, but I liked the original game well enough. If the new game is like that I could see giving it a spin.

Becase despite the fact that Bubsy is incredibly flawed, especially when compared to his blue hedgehog or italian plumber counterparts, he's got a certain charm that's pretty unique to him. Makes me kinda wanna see him succeed in the same way I wanna see Gex succeed.

Bubsy 1 and 2 aren't bad games. They're not outstanding, but they were ok for their time.
We're seeing the return of Mascot Platformers, between the outstanding hype of Sonic Mania, the moderate success of Yooka-Laylee, the HD remakes of Legend of Kay, Ty the Tazmanian Tiger, and now we're tentatively seeing this.

And the release trailer? Doesn't look bad. Bubsy doesn't go at the speed of light, the new design isn't exactly like the old one but it's cohesive and stylized, it looks like a competent upgrade. And the new voice actor doesn't sound like a cheese grater in a threshing machine. Despite Bubsy's meme status, it looks like Accolade took the legitimate complaints of the original platformers to heart. Not to mention we live in an age where the platformer has been perfected like crazy so it's easy to work on what we already know.

Which brings me to the kicker: It's still by Accolade. It's not being done by those money-grubbing meme-bastardising emulator-stealing bastards at Retroism Studios. I 100% believe that shows a dedication to seeing the project get the love it deserves.

i don't think bubsy 5 will be bad, but the jury's out on whether it'll be more than mediocre

also it's not REALLY being done by accolade, some company got the rights to use that name as the publisher

Hopefully the new game ends up good, I mean no developer EVER strives to make a bad game.

Well it's made by the developer of the recent Super Giana Sisters game, so methinks they have a penchant for reviving old or very niche franchises.

That or Bubsy's in cahoots with the Giana Sisters to resurrect more franchises (When's Aero?!).

It's nice to see Bubsy getting some decent fat art. Ally Cassandra (the fat cat girl from the cartoon) also needs more recognition. Then again, I suppose it's better to have a couple underrated characters getting big every now and then, rather than seeing them everywhere. That being said, they do still need more fat pics.
