And here we have Ophelia, a cheerful, bubbly, and somewhat dimwitted glutton of a praying mantis. Standing at about 6'8, measuring about 9'4 long, and weighing about two tonnes, Ophelia is an absolute behemoth.
Ophelia was born in the forests surrounding the town of Hardington alongside others of her species, a race of large, intelligent mantises. Like others of her species, she was not raised directly by parents, but rather learned and hunted for food alongside her brothers and sisters until she was large enough and old enough to fend for herself. However, Ophelia was always a bit different than her siblings. Though not greedy or selfish, she was always particularly gluttonous with a seemingly insatiable hunger. Fortunately, this did not interfere with her siblings at all, and they would gladly offer her whatever they couldn't eat themselves. For the most part, Ophelia's life was simple, her day typically consisting of hunting, eating, socializing, and sleeping. Over time, not only did she grow a fair bit taller than her siblings, but much, much fatter to the point where her siblings were afraid she may soon become completely immobile! fortunately, her strength seemed to grow with her size, allowing her to carry her massive girth, albeit, very slowly. unfortunately though, her wings were unable to keep up and she eventually lost the ability to fly because of her weight.
Growing so massive of course came with some downsides. with her inability to move quickly, and difficulty blending in with the environment, Ophelia quickly needed to find another means of hunting the deer or large insects that made up her massive diet when berries and branches no longer sufficed. Fortunately, Ophelia had a trick at her disposal. Because of Ophelia's powerful digestive tract, her gas was particularly foul. As a result, she quickly learned she could use her abundant supply of flatus to stun her prey long enough to get her claws on them, which only served to make her meaty form even more massive.
A rather curious individual, Ophelia always had a bit of interest in the town her forest encompassed, popping into it a few times and wandering the outskirts. Despite her unusual species, she garnered curious glances more often than fear. after all, the town was full of all sorts of species. Her favorite time to explore it however was on garbage day at night, where people brought their trash to the sidewalks for the trucks to cart away. here, she loved to empty out as many garbage cans as she could before morning, eating absolutely everything including the bags that contained it. Fortunately for her, she was rarely caught and despite her gluttonous tendencies, has come across as friendly and kind. A fact that is certainly true!... for the most part.
Though Ophelia can be a bit overly friendly to the point of being annoying, there is one thing she doesn't like, and that's "bad people". On occasion, her kind is hunted by poachers, a task that can typically be made tricky due to their tough exoskeletons, lighting fast speed, and vicious claws. However, despite her dimwittedness, Ophelia knows about them, and hates them. In fact, those who partake in the hunting of her kind revere her as a legend called "The man eater" as whenever she gets ahold of one or more of them, she likes to get revenge on their evil deeds by swallowing them whole.
These days, Ophelia still lives as she usually does, hunting, eating, sleeping, and exploring, though she seems to spend much more time in town during the day than she used to.
Something to note about Ophelia is that she is capable of digesting anything she eats, weather edible or not. because of her powerful digestive system however, she also produces a significant amount of gas, especially after eating, and with a lack of manners due to her nature, she will fart or burp at any time without thinking twice. She also has a fondness for stuffing herself silly, often times to the point of immobility, a cycle which causes her stomach to stretch more and more, giving her more and more room to fill. Though typically gentle and passive, when she feels threatened, she can actually become fairly aggressive and if she continues feeling threatened, she will lash out and devour her assailant whole, letting her powerful stomach take care of the rest. Her exoskeleton is also fairly flexible, allowing it to stretch as she eats and puts on weight.
And thus, we have my massively overweight mantis lady!
