Leonard, also known as Mudbeard, king of the pigs, was taking a walk through the outer parts of his reconstructed city.
And was idly fiddling with the amulet now hanging around his neck.
During the reconstruction, a team charged of removing some rubble had the "clever" idea of using dynamite for this.
The angry yelling their king had begun on them quickly died out when it became clear the explosion revealed a cave that no one, not even the older pigs, knew of.
The reconstruction team, turned exploration team, went in the cave.
And to their great surprise, found a temple in it.
The temple's walls were covered in a strange writing that no one knew, and in the middle of the room, was a pedestal, on which was resting the amulet.
The team decided to give it to the king, in hope to make him completely forget their screw-up.
It worked.
Because, as Leonard reflected in the present, it was a magnificent piece of jewelry, made of three parts.
The first part, the back and outer rim, was made of pure gold.
The second part, the inner front except for the center, was in black obsidian, and eight gems were set in circle in it: four sapphires, two rubies and two emeralds.
The third part, the center, was again of pure gold and in the shape of a pig snout. And through the holes, you could see it was hollow and contained a diamond.
The pig king idly rubbed the circle of gems.
And all eight of them suddenly started glowing, joined by the diamond.
What the?! What's happening?!
He suddenly felt a strange sensation that pushed him to look down.
And he stared in astonishment.
For the first time in his life, he couldn't see his belly, for it had begun to recede, and was also hidden by growing pecs.
Incredulous, he touched them, and his hands confirmed that he wasn't hallucinating.
And the gesture also showed him a pair of arms that were swelling at a visible rate.
As he lifted his head, he also saw that his head was now at the level of a high house's upper floors, and still rising higher.
Leonard stood in place as the amulet kept filling his body with rock-hard muscle and growing it taller than any house in the city.
And as he flexed a bulging biceps and felt the power and strength in it growing in accordance with its size, he began enjoying this unexpected and amazing gift.
I'll have to give these guys one hell of a reward!

No, the amulet and Red's mark are equal in power.
The story arc I imagine for it is that after the big brawl that's coming , Leonard will go looking for the eight other temples to upgrade it, and of course, Red won't have any of it
Especially since said temples actually can upgrade the Mark as well.
