Yay! So I got the last character in the party drawn, finally.
This is Vitanialinaise Sommermus, a white mouse cleric to my god of heroes, Endymore. She prefers to be called Vit. The part of Vit will be played by summercat.
That's a normal sized morning star she's holding, but mice are a small race, so she's going to have to use it two-handed. As stated in Endymore's profile, it doubles as her holy symbol, which makes turning and bashing undead an easy one-two action. For those who might be tempted to argue that a morning star has a chain between the handle at the business end, there are numerous documents either way on the Internetz. D&D defines a morning star as a mace with spikes on, so that's how I define it.
Pretty happy with the slapped-on shading I used. Didn't take much time and the result is fairly pleasing...

It seems like there's always a lot of confusion over the morning stars... I just call a pointy-heavy-thing-on-a-stick a "mace" and a pointy-heavy-thing-on-a-chain a "flail"; it makes life easier. I've often wondered if the whole "morning star" was more of a descriptor for the head itself rather than the weapon, but I've never really been bothered to look it up or ask someone who'd actually know. XD
In regards to the pic, nice work. The character definately looks right for the role, so that's always good. :D
And given that it was a quicky shade-job, it was probably well worth the time investment. The lighting effects are subtle, but give the piece a nice bit of "pop". :)

Actually, I did quite a bit of research on this one because I wanted to make sure I was using the right terms, and according to the best sources I could find, a mace is a stick with a heavy, usually round, usually metal knob on the end. Sometimes maces have bumps, knobs and flanges(almost blades in some cases!), but if they have metal spikes longer then 1 inch, they are considered a morning star. A flail on the other hand is a stick with chain on it, often with weights on the end of the chain. Some of the better ones had hooks or metal balls with spikes on 'em at the ends of the chain.
Anyways though, like I said, D&D says morning star is that, so, yeah.
Oh yeah, and thanks fur the artsty comments! Believe it or not, I actually like comments on the art beyond "Oooh pretty!".
(not that there's anything wrong with "Ooooh pretty" when required)

Ahhh, well that's rather informative. I didn't realize the spike length made a difference for classification... Learn somethin' new every day. :)
I figure near-everyone prefers comments beyond "oooh pretty"! XD
I just always feel kinda silly posting two-word comments when "you did X really nicely" doesn't take that much more effort.

Well, yes, it is a bit sketchy, that is actually the idea. I'm trying to force myself to draw more, so what I'm planning to do is draw out every bit of GM interaction for the game. (see my journals for more details if you'd like)
It's pretty much all going to be sketches, with a minimal amount of digital clean up, depending on how much time I have.

Actually, Lucifer is the "star of morning" not mourning. He is the most beautiful angel, according to what I recall of Judeo-Christian mythology.
I was raised Christian. Technically, I still am Christian, even though I now believe organized religion is antithetical to a true understanding of God.
