Another concept for my lizard race. And some lore too, if you're interested. ^^
This guy is a warrior, probably a pretty rich one, combining a lamellar armour with some heavy clothing to protect himself from the desert heat.
The veil is commonly used by many tribes (not all of them, though), and once males reach the adult age they have to wear it all time, except inside their tents or during the night. According to their tradition the veil is supposed to protect them by the wrath of the sun, who is considered the main god of their pantheon, giver of life but also very prideful and vengeful. Since adult males are considered to be impure (corrupted by life in general and by evil spirits), the sun could take great offense if he could see their faces, so going around without the veil during the day could bring some serious bad luck on the person and maybe his tribe too.
During the night the three moons are considered to be deities too, the Three Sisters of the Sun (always hiding from their brother, running through the sky, but I stop here or I'd write a religious text), much more benevolent and tolerant than he is, who allow people to show their faces without being offended by it.
Females have a slightly different look than males, smaller and with a greyer colour (the red colour is typical of males and considered very attractive), and they have no obligation to wear the veil. Since they are life givers, they are considered always pure and protected by the Moons, and they have a very important role in the society.
(sorry for the wall of text) :P

ah great to see you finally post this drawing here as well! I just really love what you did with the background for these reptiles. Even complete idiots should be able to see that these are nothing like Argonians from Elder scrolls.
Seeing this drawign again makes really want to see more of this culture (and not JUSt because of the masks thank you) if I'm to draw any gifts in the future it's defently of these guyes ;)
