Kind of weird to be submitting this in June, I know. Maybe it will help take your mind off the heat :P
It's the dead of winter, it's not yet light out and it's icy cold and the air is still. The cold is almost numbing. There is a fine blanket of snow covering the landscape and it is completely undisturbed. As the sun rises, birds begin to sing, the long shadows of the evergreens sweep across the ground and the warm sunlight sparkles on the snow, slowly melting it. You can hear it dripping, it almost seems like the earth itself is waking up.
This is inspired mainly by Craig Armstrong, but also to some extent, Jon Hopkins. I wanted to do something very minimal with a human feel so of course I played it live. It was actually much harder than I thought, trying to get all the little nuances out of the notes is very tricky on a non-weighted keyboard. Not to mention I'm not a very good piano player.
