One of my Wylde Animals characters. Keep in mind that this sketch is 13 years old at this point but I like how it turned out overall. In the world of Wylde Animals, The Hood is probably one of the oldest heroes, having existed in a prior, less flashy and non-powered, incarnation. This version of The Hood is probably a cross between Batman, a highly athletic detective, but with a bit more of an edge. His presence causes fear in men. The more they try to face him, the more they fear him. The one drawback? This same effect causes attraction in women, something The Hood cannot relate to because the effect causing the fear/attraction has left him without much emotion of his own.

I'm not sure when I first thought of using the name for this character but there was a character in DC Comics' Captain Carrot comic that had the name 'The Hood'. He was a villian that had gathered a bunch of thugs under some dippy acronym and wore, as if this isn't obvious, a hood. Like many of the Captain Carrot stories, while I enjoyed what satire and parody I understood, I also wanted a version that was taken at least as seriously as Superman. I think that's where I started drawing these fur superheroes. First up was to create someone worthy of the name "The Hood", I guess, because this character has been kicking around since those days which means I've had this character for about 23 years.
