This here is a WIP map of a high fantasy world that I am working on.
The continent is larger than it might seem from the map,

Nobody really controls it, as there are three nations from another continent vying for its control.
The Stonehearth nation in the north, based on medieval Britain and Germany. Their main trade an income in this part of the world are from the rich mines in the mountains within their territory.

In the south is the nation of Trestame, based on Mediterranean culture and climate. Their main trade relates to wine production, agriculture and clothing. They care much about reputation, and are therefore seen as honorable and fashionable.

To the east in the harsh desert lies Kadhiyah, a nation famed for their sworsmanship and hardened warriors. They too make a trade out of the ores in the large mountain range that gives them a natural bulwark against attackers.
So despite being the smallest nation they have the best tactical location, especially since they know how to live off of the landscape, something that the two other nations knows nothing of.

In the very center of the continent lies -or rather- floats a large city of mages, sorcerers, wizards and anyone else who practices their magic seriously. It's a city where most at least tries to put aside their differences no matter which of the three nations they are from.
As you might expect, there are still a lot of tensions despite this, and with everyone using magic to some degree in this city paranoia is common between neighbours.
