Interesting story, but why would he willingly let his clothes get torn apart? He knew the change was coming, knew what it meant when it started, and did nothing.
I'd hate to see the cost of his wardrobe in the future if that's his standard practice. Clothes aren't cheap, especially shoes.

Well, he's not really the type to think ahead... perhaps he simply liked the feeling of tearing through them, since it showed how powerful he was becoming.
I don't know, I was kinda trying to experiment with the whole "getting bigger and clothes tearing apart" sort of thing in this story, so I didn't really think about the logic behind it.
