The alt. title tho
I come from both sides of the table. I'm an artist, but I do feel like some artists charge WAYYYYY too much...
Like I can think of an artist ( and I'm sure many will know who I'm talking about ) who has regular YCHs and will charge 1000 at the most for a slot and 300 at the lowest for a slot in these big group orgy drawings, and there are a lot of artists on here that have a similar/near identical art style as them, too. Furry art community though amirite

Well that's not accurate. I got a spot in one of his very recently for $75. And either way, if people are buying then he's charging just enough. Don't begrudge someone because they've put the time and effort to build a following to command those prices. And when they don't sell he lowers them. People can opt to wait if they really want a discount, but most don't.
Yeah, this. I don't know why people say these things. So many people get these exaggerations in their head and I don't know where they even come from? I've never seen him charge more than $660 for a slot, and I've seen slots as low as $75 (like the one you got). Not to mention, the slots are set prices, not up for auction, so they're pretty irrelevant to the joke here, I feel.
I follow him because I like his art. I've seen stuff go for $1000. Your $75 slot, how large is the slot? Is it a small background character? Lmfao. I don't consider a small role in a large image to be worth much money. $75 is definitely more reasonable for something say- shaded, colored, full bodied, etc. but still. If it's just one tiny role in a much larger one it seems excessive.
You responded to the wrong person. The slot I paid for was knees up full body. And just in case you're wondering, Miles sends over a file size large enough that a simple crop could make the image a stand-alone full body. Some of us have paychecks (vs. an allowance), and are more than happy to spend it on artists whose brand consists of quick turn around and a fun style. I could pay one of the many knock-off artists who replicate his style. And maybe if I'm lucky I'll see my art sometime before my paypal dispute window closes.

"i sure hate it when people make a ton of money and people happily pay what they ask for! why cant they just buy knock off jordans , you don't need the real ones! gosh! "
I mean i don't like his art style at all but people can do and charge whatever they want , if they get too big for their britches people won't pay it.
Grow up my dude.

I'm not saying to buy knock offs. I'm saying it's a style that is becoming pretty commonly replicated, and there's a group of people who all draw like they're one person or learned from the same teacher. Shading, anatomy, general 'toony, semi realism' style are all nearly identical. I like his art enough to follow him, and have for a while, but I find the prices and abundance of the art style combined to be a bit ridiculous. It's like people who draw identical to classic disney art styles and charge high for simple work. It just is a bit silly.
The more popular the individual, the more 'top of the list' they become, even if their art style isn't terribly unique. People love griffsnuff on deviantart, but I've never been fond. It's a matter of preference, and in the end it's an opinion. Unless the opinion is directly harming the person it's about, it shouldn't offend or effect anyone. Ya'll are gettin' your panties knotted over trivial shite.

How does other people replicating a style have anything to do with the person who started the trend? People replicate Vincent van Gogh's style all the time, but that doesn't negate the beauty of it and the skill he had. And I'm not saying anything about what I think of Miles' style one way or the other, simply pointing out the flaw in your argument.
Furthermore, how popular an artist is has always dictated the rates they can charge for their work. That's what market value is. It's why Vincent van Gogh lived in poverty, but so many Renaissance painters were successful, despite having similar styles and themes. Love it or hate it, but don't think for a moment that it's something new, or exclusive to the furry community.
Lastly... "Ya'll are gettin' your panties knotted over trivial shite.": Pot, meet kettle.

The green one is the auctioneer, he wasn't saying '1500.' That was being yelled by someone outside that panel. The green one was being shown to show his reaction to the crazy bidding going on in the auction he's coordinating.
Since Kuro (the brown beetle) had just bid 1000 a few moments prior, the 1500 must be from the yellow spider (it's like he was still talking after insulting Kuro's clothes, spitting out his bid after the insult). This also makes sense with how Kuro then bids 3000 a moment later, after his reply to the clothes comment.

My process for going through my recent submissions: Open the things that I like in new tabs, then nuke my inbox. Then go through each tab for a closer look, fav and comment etc.
Sundays are my favorite day, because I will get to see another glorious page of this story. And as one does with a treat, I go through all my other tabs first, keeping the best for last.
You're like a fancy piece of chocolate.
