Age 30, he originally wanted to become a professional battler, but he was injured while in his freshman year of college. He instead chose to study calisthenics and medicine to be a trainer, battling tutor, referee, and even a field medic. As a result he acts as a general trainer for high school-level pokemon looking to improve their conditioning. His fire-based nature also apparently makes him an amazing masseur.

Though one may think he did not evolve due to the injuries incurred on the field, he actually suppressed his own evolution during high school.
